Selection focus for this working condition
Coupling selection for slow-speed, high-torque kiln drives with shock load, thermal expansion and maintenance access considerations.
Recommended coupling types Drum gear or gear couplings, disc or diaphragm couplings on the high-speed side or for low maintenance, hydrodynamic couplings for auxiliary rotation, and long-spacer shafts.
Typical working conditions Low-speed high torque, 24-hour continuous operation, strong heat radiation and thermal expansion, with shaft-line changes from support rollers, girth gear and hot deformation.
Key selection parameters Low-speed torque, allowable axial displacement, hot alignment, insulation distance, high-temperature lubrication, auxiliary drive braking or anti-reversal, and girth gear mesh condition.
Installation and maintenance notes Reserve cold-installation offset for thermal expansion, add heat shields, inspect tooth surfaces, discs and connecting bolts, and avoid transferring kiln swing directly to the reducer.
Use with caution / not recommended Rigid couplings or short couplings with very small compensation should not be used on the low-speed main drive; ordinary rubber elastomers are unsuitable near high-temperature points.
