Overview and Where It Fits
A curved jaw coupling, often called a star coupling, has two hubs with convex jaws and a star-shaped polyurethane element between them. The curved contact faces keep surface pressure low, so the jaws do not wear or deform even under brief overload, while the element damps shock and takes small misalignment. It is compact, has low inertia and needs no maintenance; the hubs simply plug together axially. Sizes XL0 to XL16 cover 7.5 N·m to 18,650 N·m nominal torque with a 92 ShA element, about 70% more with 98 ShA, and bores up to 200 mm. Besides the basic type there are double-element, flanged, double- and single-flange, brake-disc and brake-wheel versions. Before we quote, please send the power or torque and speed, both shaft sizes with keyways, and the type you need.
