Overview and Where It Fits
A jaw coupling, also called a spider or plum coupling, has two hubs with interlocking jaws and a one-piece multi-petal elastomer element between them. Torque passes through the element, which damps shock and vibration and lets the shafts run with small angular, radial and axial misalignment. There is nothing to lubricate, and the coupling is quick to assemble. It suits pumps, fans and conveyors, as well as hoisting and general drives that start often or reverse. Sizes LM50 to LM400 (GB/T 5272-2017) cover 28 N·m to 14,000 N·m nominal torque and bores from 10 mm to 160 mm. The LMS double-flange type lets you change the element without moving the machines, LML adds a brake wheel and LMPK a brake disc. Before we quote, please send the power or torque and speed, both shaft sizes with keyways, and the bore type. Is your old coupling marked LM5, LMD5 or LMZ5-I? Send us the nameplate and we will match it.
